Charlie Bryant's career in the field of barbecue started when Henry Perry hired him. In 1946, following the death of Perry, Charlie took over his business. Charlie brought his brother into the company and later changed the name of the restaurant to Arthur Bryant's.
His restaurant became a staple for baseball fans and players in the 1950s and was even called by an article in New Yorker Magazine as the best restaurant on the planet.
He gave his own flavor to the sauce and became famous for his sliced beef and President's Choice sauce. Arthur Bryant's continue to offer their flavorful barbecue menu up to this day.

Gates BBQ
Like Charlie and Arthur Bryant, George Gates was also influenced by Henry Perry. Arthur Pinkard helped George Gates to establish his barbecue restaurant in the 1940s. Later on, the name was changed into Gates and Sons BBQ, when Ollie Gates, George's son, became more hands-on in the business.
They begin to supply their products to local grocery stores in 1975 and not long after, they started distributing their products on a national scale. Gates has six branches throughout Kansas City and is a favorite for its Original Classic sauce and ribs. Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue
Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbecue was established in 1957 by Russ Fiorella. The restaurant was previously named Smokestack BBQ and began its operation with only five to six products. Jack Fiorella, Russ' eldest son, decided to branch off and put up Fiorella's Jack Stack.

The competition was tight in the 1970s, so they had to do something to stand out. Jack and Delores, his wife, started cooking using Gourmet Hickory Wood. They now have the most extensive barbecue menu in the whole nation.
